As a teenager she went to Chicago to study art and go to the Symphony. She studied at Oberlin College, completing her BA at U W-Madison. In 1966 she moved to California, where she earned an MA in creative writing from SF State and a PhD in Poetry and Depth Psychology from the Union Institute. After teaching in numerous California Community Colleges, she became a professor at Saint Marys College of Moraga, CA, where she initiated an MFA program. Long retired, she continues to seek what will sustain self and soul through her writing.
